The mission of the Alder Teacher Residency at Alpha Public Schools ( https://aldergse.edu/academic-programs/masters-credential-teacher-residency/ ) is to develop excellent teachers. We support teacher residents in a year of pre-service so that they can be effective for students from their first day as a teacher of record.
As the Teacher Residency Seminar Facilitator you will be responsible for the planning and execution of weekly seminars for teacher residents at Alpha Public Schools. The Teacher Residency Seminar Facilitator works closely with Alpha’s Director of Teacher Residency and staff from Alder GSE to support and develop an excellent pipeline of teachers. This is a part time role.

What you’ll do…
Design and facilitate group instruction for all Alpha Public Schools Residents 3-4 Thursdays per month based on best practices in adult learning and teacher education, working closely with Alder residency directors throughout the region to ensure program alignment across sites.
~6 hours on Seminar Thursdays, plus set up and tear down time
~6 hours to prepare for seminar
Support Residents and Mentors by attending seminar for Mentor Teachers 1 Thursday per month
Co-plan and run summer Mentor-Resident Orientation and other training activities for Mentors and Residents
Attend/co-facilitate/co-plan 1 day of summer orientation
Teach 2 day course in the summer
Participate in weekly Residency team meetings, Leadership Retreats, all Resident selection and assessment and other events as part of the Leadership Team (e.g. Director’s Meetings)
2.5 hours of calls on Wednesday afternoons with Alder to prepare for seminar
3-4 training conferences/retreats during the year
Master’s level degree in relevant field (required)
5+ years of demonstrated success in related roles (e.g. teacher leader, assistant principal, instructional coach, etc)
Experienced in supporting and/or coaching highly effective and new teachers

Knowledgeable in teaching and content: Current in relevant and pedagogical content knowledge for credentials sought by residents in cohort. Successful in curriculum design, instruction and adult learning, including data analysis.
Well informed of the current context of public schooling including the California adopted P-12 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems
Understanding of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation
A strong project manager: effective organization skills, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work independently
Confidential: Able to handle confidential and sensitive issues with diplomacy and even-handedness and able to work effectively with teammates of all levels
Collaborative: A proven leader with an exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships, with demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders
Flexible: Able to work in ambiguous, complex, and rapidly changing environments
