SALARY RANGE: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I $3,488 PER MONTH (SR-16)
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST II $3,744 PER MONTH (SR-18)
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST III $4,079 PER MONTH (SR-20)
JOB DUTIES: This position will serve as a helpdesk support analyst and as the liaison between the Information Technology Department and the users of the automated systems of the HHSC facilities and the HHSC Information Technology Department. This position will be located in the HHSC IT Department. The Operations Center maintains and operates the central host systems and servers for HHSC on a 24-hour a day, 7 day a week basis. The HHSC Operations Center is responsible for monitoring all central host systems, including applications and interfaces, security, performance monitoring, network monitoring, job control, and provides after hours support. Vacancies may be permanent, temporary, full-time or part-time. Must be available to work rotating shift-work (Days, Evenings and Nights), including holidays, weekends, and on call (standby) as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently, In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Excess experience of the types and quality described below or any administrative, professional, analytical, technical, or other responsible work provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. The education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
EXPERIENCE: ITS I – No Experience; ITS II – six (6) months; ITS III – one and one half (1- 1/2) years of progressively responsible work experience in computer systems analysis which involved the analysis and design of systems for electronic processing of data; or stored computer programming experience which included participation in systems analysis.
CERTIFICATION: MCITP, Microsoft Office, VCA-DT, ITIL, a+, or Network+ preferred.
LICENSE: None required.
Possession of a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or in another major which included completion of course work comparable to a major in computer science may be substituted for six (6) months of the required specialized Experience.
Partial completion of a master’s degree program in computer science from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a month-for-month basis up to a maximum of one (1) year for the required Specialized Experience.
Possession of a master’s degree in computer science fro an accredited college or university may be substituted for one and one-half (1- 1/2) years of the required Specialized Experience.
Possession of a Ph.D in computer science fro an accredited college or university may be substituted for two and one-half (2- 1/2) years of the required Specialized Experience.
Excess staff specialist and/or supervisory experience f the types and quality described above may be substituted for Specialised Experience on a year-for-year basis.
Excess technician experience comparable to an Information Systems Technician II or higher or comparable positions may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
