The Director of Enrollment Management and Student Services provides strategic enrollment management leadership for IU Online degrees and programs and reports to the Associate Vice President for University Academic Affairs. As deputy director of OOE, this position represents the Office of Online Education on academic councils and advisory groups, and contributes to strategic planning, development, and advancement of credit and non-credit online opportunities in collaboration with campus partners, academic officers and stakeholders. The Director position oversees a staff of 5 full-time and 3 part-time employees and focuses on functional operations to improve student services experiences while providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to constituencies. The position will serve as a critical leader for fostering enrollment growth, improving retention and increasing graduation rates for students involved in online education at the University. Responsibilities include:
Provides leadership for OOE’s integration of operations and services for marketing, communications, online student recruitment and retention, customer relations management and information technology operations.
Develops and implements an enrollment management and $1.5 million marketing plan to be implemented collaboratively with the campuses and IU Communications. Works with academic officers and stakeholders at all campuses to support the design and development of marketing for programs, certificates and courses.
Works to improve existing and develop new student services and initiatives to address online student needs. Coordinates the application processes for online programs (7,000 applications received annually); and serve a population of 6,000 students in online programs.
Provides support for new initiatives and campaigns and mentors stakeholders on methods for successful implementation.
Facilitates the evaluation and analysis of complex concerns and issues and prepares recommendations for the leadership team on direction, priorities and goals.
Serves on university committees and task forces and maintains professional expertise on best practices for online enrollment marketing and management strategies.
This is a newly created position that will report to the Associate Vice President. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team focused on maintaining and strengthening IU Online’s status as a premier national online education program. The Director position will be responsible for many of the day-to-day operations to help grow recruitment and retention efforts and enrich the overall student experience for online students.
Master’s degree in higher education, educational policy and leadership, instructional design or related field and eight years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment management, admissions, recruitment, registration and/or marketing campaign work.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Demonstrated experience in negotiation, problem solving and team building. Advanced computer fluency in administrative software and reporting tools.
Doctorate degree in higher education, educational policy and leadership, instructional design or a related field. Experience with online course delivery platforms. Applied experience in budgeting and planning, and educational research.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
The Director will travel, largely around the state of Indiana as well as to national conferences, as a representative of the Office of Online Education and IU Online where they will share our vision, mission and accomplishments with community partners as well as various internal and external constituencies.
